Tringa

kallbadan.gifTringa is the ornithological society for the Uusimaa province in southern Finland. Tringa is founded in 1974 and has over 3000 members.

The society has meetings once a month, normally on the first Thursday of the month. The program is usually a presentation related to birds, e.g. birding trips, bird research, conservation etc. Also, a competition in bird identification is held once a year.

We mainly concentrate on free time leisure birding and local conservation work. We also have research and bird monitoring activities, e.g. at the Bird Observatory in Hanko peninsula.

Members of Tringa are automatically members of BirdLife Suomi: Membership includes for instance:

    • Societys own publication: Tringa (4 numbers a year)
    • The BirdLife Suomi magazine (3 numbers a year)
    • Possibility to borrow society´s spotting scopes

Birding in Tringa area

We organize guided birding trips to the best birding sites in Uusimaa. Our trips are mainly conducted in Finnish but the guides usually also speak English. The current program can be found in our event calendar. The trips are mainly for Tringa members, but also non-members are warmly welcome to most trips. In case you are interested in taking part in the birding trips, please send an e-mail to tringa.retket@gmail.com
